- Consultations & Check-Ups
1st and 2nd opinion
Every pet is unique, and so is every situation. Whether it’s your first visit or you’re seeking a second opinion after an unclear diagnosis, we take the time to understand the full picture before making any recommendations. At Veterinarian Lu, we take time to look at the full picture — your animal’s history, behavior, test results, and your concerns as a pet owner.
We know how stressful uncertainty can feel.
Our goal is to offer clarity and calm guidance, so you feel supported in making the best decision for your companion.
Puppy and kitten consultation
Not all puppies and kittens are the same — and neither are their needs. Different breeds require different care, diets, training approaches, and health checks. At Veterinarian Lu, we offer consultations especially for first-time pet owners who want to start off on the right foot.
We take time to explain what’s important for your animal — based on their breed, age, and behavior — so you’re not guessing or overwhelmed by generic advice. Whether it’s vaccinations, feeding, socialization, or long-term health planning, we’re here to guide you with calm, clear, and practical support.

Senior consultation
Aging is not a disease — but it does require care. As animals grow older, their bodies change. Certain functions slow down, and they may need extra support through targeted nutrition, supplements, or lifestyle adjustments.
At Veterinarian Lu, we offer senior consultations to help you monitor your pet’s health and comfort as they age. We recommend starting these check-ups between 7 and 9 years old, depending on the breed — large dogs often benefit from earlier support.
During these consultations, we look at key areas such as heart function, joint health, digestion, appetite changes, and behavior. With timely care, senior pets can enjoy a calm, healthy life — full of comfort and connection.

Telemedicine
Sometimes, the best advice can come without leaving your home. Our telemedicine service allows you to discuss your pet’s health concerns with us through a secure video call.
Whether you need a follow-up consultation, a second opinion, or guidance on test results, telemedicine helps us provide timely advice—especially for pets who get stressed by travel or for urgent questions between in-clinic visits. We can review records, assess visible symptoms, and decide together on the next best step for your pet’s care.
- Preventive Care
Vaccination and Titter
Vaccination is an important part of preventive care — but it’s not one-size-fits-all. At Veterinarian Lu, we believe in timing vaccines based on each animal’s real needs, not just following a generic schedule.
We use titer testing to check your pet’s existing immunity against core diseases like canine distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus. This simple blood test shows whether your pet is still protected or truly needs a booster.
This approach helps us:
- Avoid unnecessary vaccinations
- Protect the immune system from unneeded stimulation
- Offer science-based, individualized care
Whether it’s a puppy starting their first vaccinations, or an adult pet due for a check-up, we guide you with clarity and respect for your animal’s unique health status.
Parasite prevention
Fleas, ticks, worms, and other parasites aren’t just an irritation — they can seriously affect your pet’s health and, in some cases, even spread diseases to humans. Prevention is far easier (and safer) than treating a serious infestation.
We create a prevention plan tailored to your pet’s lifestyle, environment, and breed. For example, a city apartment cat may need different protection than a dog who swims in lakes or roams in the countryside.
Our approach includes:
- Year-round or seasonal protection based on risk
- Choosing the right product and dosage for your animal’s weight and health
- Advice on safely administering treatments at home
With the right plan, we keep your pet comfortable, healthy, and parasite-free — so you can enjoy your time together without unwanted “guests.”
Health Plan
Every pet is unique — their breed, age, lifestyle, and medical history all influence what kind of care they need. A Health Plan is not just a checklist of treatments; it’s a personalized roadmap to keep your pet healthy throughout the year.
We look at the big picture:
- Preventive care (vaccinations, parasite control, dental health)
- Screening tests based on broad-specific risks
- Nutrition and weight management
- Behavior and lifestyle adjustments
- Early detection for age-related changes
By planning ahead, we can catch problems early, avoid unnecessary stress, and help your pet live a longer, more comfortable life. Think of it as giving them the same level of care you’d want for any beloved family member — proactive, thoughtful, and always tailored to their needs.
- Diagnostics
Laboratory
Accurate diagnosis starts with reliable test results. We work with leading veterinary laboratories, including Utrecht University and Laboklin, to ensure that every result is clear, trustworthy, and delivered promptly.
From routine blood and urine tests to advanced diagnostic panels, we choose the most appropriate testing for your pet’s needs. This allows us to identify health issues early, guide treatment with confidence, and avoid unnecessary procedures.
Because every decision we make for your pet’s care should be based on the best possible information.
Ecography (Ultrasound)
Ultrasound is a gentle, non-invasive way to see what’s happening inside your pet’s body in real time. It allows us to examine organs, tissues, and blood flow without discomfort or risk, making it an invaluable tool in veterinary diagnostics.
When combined with bloodwork, ultrasound gives us a complete and accurate picture of your pet’s health. Together, these tests help us reach the right diagnosis quickly, so we can start the most effective treatment without delay.
This approach is not only precise but also stress-minimizing for your pet—because their comfort matters as much as the results.
Blood pressure Measurement
Measuring your pet’s blood pressure is a quick, painless, and stress-free procedure. High or low blood pressure can be a sign of underlying health issues, such as kidney disease, heart problems, or hormonal disorders.
At Veterinarian Lu, we use equipment specially designed for animals, ensuring the process is as comfortable as possible. Regular blood pressure checks — especially for senior pets or those with certain conditions — allow us to detect and address problems early.
A small step that makes a big difference for your pet’s health and wellbeing.
- Cardiology
ECG and Holter
An ECG (electrocardiogram) allows us to study your pet’s heart rhythm in detail, detecting irregularities such as arrhythmias or signs of underlying heart disease.
For a deeper look, we use a Holter monitor—a comfortable vest your dog can wear at home for 24 hours. This continuous recording gives us a complete picture of how the heart works during daily activities and rest.
Holter monitoring is particularly valuable for medium and large breed dogs at risk of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), as well as for any pet showing abnormal heart rhythms. This method is non-invasive, stress-free, and highly accurate, helping us make the right decisions for your pet’s heart health.
- Therapy & Special Treatments
Nutrition
Good nutrition is the foundation of a healthy life. We create tailored feeding plans based on your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle, and any existing health conditions. Different breeds and life stages have unique nutritional needs, and the wrong diet can lead to avoidable health issues over time.
With our additional certification in veterinary nutrition, we can guide you in choosing the right diet—whether it’s for growth, weight control, managing chronic conditions, or simply keeping your pet in peak condition. We focus on practical, science-based solutions that your pet will actually enjoy eating, making mealtime both healthy and stress-free.
Behavior
Understanding your pet’s behavior is key to a happy, balanced life together. Changes in behavior can sometimes be linked to stress, anxiety, pain, or underlying medical conditions. With our certification in veterinary behavior, we take a holistic approach—looking at both physical health and emotional well-being.
We help you identify the root cause of unwanted behaviors and create realistic, compassionate strategies to address them. Whether it’s adjusting the environment, introducing enrichment, or working on gentle training methods, our goal is to improve your pet’s quality of life and strengthen your bond.
Pain and Laser therapy
Pain is not just discomfort—it can deeply affect your pet’s mobility, mood, and overall health. Our goal is to identify and manage pain early, whether it’s caused by injury, surgery, arthritis, or chronic conditions.
Laser therapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing processes. It helps reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and speed up recovery, all while being completely painless. Combined with a tailored pain management plan, it allows your pet to feel more comfortable, stay active, and enjoy life again.
- Care & Grooming
Washing and trimming
Regular grooming is not just about keeping your pet looking their best—it’s an important part of their overall health. Clean skin and a well-maintained coat help prevent irritation, infections, and discomfort. We provide gentle washing and careful trimming tailored to your pet’s coat type, breed, and needs.
Whether it’s a routine clean-up, a seasonal coat trim, or extra care after a muddy adventure, we make the process stress-free and safe, ensuring your pet feels fresh, comfortable, and happy.
For aggressive animals extra medication needed, extra costs may apply
- End-of-Life Support
euthanasia
Saying goodbye is one of the hardest moments in the life of a pet owner, and it deserves to be handled with dignity, compassion, and peace. We offer at-home euthanasia to allow your beloved pet to spend their final moments in a familiar, comfortable environment, surrounded by love.
Our approach is gentle and respectful, focusing on reducing stress and pain for both you and your pet. We guide you through the process, answer your questions, and give you the time and space you need. This is a deeply personal moment, and we are here to support you with empathy and understanding.
